FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will McKeon Murray provide me with text books in my chosen
subjects?
The answer
to this question is regrettably “No”; prior to the current
academic year i.e. 2010/11, McKeon Murray provided manuals in each relevant
subject to its correspondence course students. Such manuals were written
specifically to meet the requirements of the Syllabus. However, Accounting Technicans Ireland has now decided that it will be the sole producer of the
relevant subject texts. Accordingly, all students sitting their first and
second year examinations are now required to purchase texts directly from
Accounting Technicians Ireland.
When
submitting your registration form to Accounting Technicians Ireland you must
specify the manuals you require for which the charge is €55 per subject.
Do I have to pay fees to Accounting Technicians Ireland and
pay additional fees to McKeon Murray Publications?
The answer
to this question is “Yes”.
You must
pay Accounting Technicians Ireland the following fees:-
·
Student registration of
€200 (closing date for registration is 29 October 2010).
In addition, there is
a late application fee of €70 charged by Accounting Technicians Ireland for
student registrations received after 30 October 2009.
·
Manuals fee of €220 (for
4 subjects).
·
Examination fee of €280
(for 4 subjects).
Thus, the
total cost in normal circumstances payable to Accounting Technicians Ireland is
€700.
Any student
who then chooses to enrol with a registered college for a lecture course or with
McKeon Murray for a correspondence course must pay additional course fees to
that college or correspondence course fees.
In our
case, the additional fees are set out in the section of this document covering
“Course Fees”.
Accordingly, on this basis, your total course cost is approximately €1,250 to
include the fees payable to Accounting Technicians Ireland and to McKeon Murray.
It is
essential that you are committed to studying for the relevant examinations
before you decide to commit yourself to this level of expenditure.
If I enrol with McKeon Murray for its correspondence course
and subsequently decide not to continue
can I apply for a refund?
McKeon
Murray will not refund course fees to any student who registers for its
correspondence course.
McKeon
Murray expects students registering with it to sit the examinations in
either the May 2011 or August 2011 sittings of the exams. Course fees paid
to McKeon Murray cannot be refunded, carried forward, or credited to
students who enrol and subsequently decide not to sit their examinations in
2011.
In the second year course what is Integrated Accounting
Systems?
The key
objective of this module is to provide students with practical experience in
effectively using standard software packages used in the business world,
particularly those commonly used by accountants. It will cover areas such
as:
·
Operation and
maintenance of a computerised payroll system
·
Integrated accounting
systems and double entry
·
Spreadsheets and
budgeting
·
Word processing and
document formatting
·
Online filing
This is
a very practically oriented subject and it will require access to a PC or
laptop computer.
